What does RISC do?
Our activities and services include:
- A loan
service of educational resources and artefacts for schools and
the youth service
- Advice and information
on sustainable development, global citizenship and related issues.
- A programme
of public education events.
- Global
Kidz
pre-school
playgroup. In our toddler & parent/carer group, we are working on
the production of a Global activities handbook for other 'early years'
groups to use. (Global Kidz activites are currently suspended)
- Production of
teaching materials
and exhibitions.
- A resource centre
with over 9,000 publications on development and related issues.
- a World
Shop selling fair traded and environmentally friendly products.
- a Global
Cafe and
exhibition space offering a variety of mostly fair
traded and organic food and drinks.
- A Conference
Centre with four meeting rooms.
- Organising the
One World Tent at the WOMAD festival.
- Co-ordinating
the Reading International Development Forum and Reading International
Festival.

Training and work experience opportunities for volunteers, the unemployed
and young offenders.
- Roof
garden project, celebrating local food and biodiversity, visits
and workshops via arrangement and a lively volunteer program.
