Global Citizenship Advocates Training

The aim of this unique training package is to enable educators to deliver Global Citizenship/Global Dimension/ Development Education. The Global Citizenship Advocates Course equips each participant to become a catalyst for change in their workplace.

Each course is tailored to the needs of participants - teachers, advisors, ITT, NGOs working with teachers, and Development Education Centres.

• introduces the theory and practice of Global Citizenship
• identifies opportunities for embedding issues of social justice and sustainability across the curriculum
• explores methodologies for measuring attitudinal change
• enables controversial issues to be tackled
• considers how change can be achieved and sustained
• demonstrates how Global Citizenship links with and is relevant to Every Child Matters, SEAL, Community Cohesion, Assessment for Learning, Rights Respecting Schools

The course is usually delivered on three separate days, over a number of weeks, allowing participants time to reflect on their learning and requiring them to undertake activities with colleagues or pupils.

The charge for attending a GCA course is £200.
If you would like us to run a course for your organisation the charge is £2,500 for up to 24 participants.

Courses have been run for:
Local Authorities, whole school staffs, SW EES Region, LaSER EES Region, VSO, Diocese of Chichester, Rights Respecting Schools, Welsh Development Education Network Cyfanfyd
This course was developed by Mary Young, Louise Robinson, Barbara Lowe and Liz Allum, with initial funding from Oxfam. It draws on their combined 40 years Development Education experience and reflects the expertise of its authors.
Completion of the course does not entitle participants to deliver Global Citizenship Advocates courses.
